Guide to monitoring and tracking student performance

Student Progress

The Student Progress section allows you to monitor student performance, track progress over time, view grades and attendance, and identify students who may need additional support.

Student Progress Dashboard

Overview

Student Progress enables you to:

  • View individual student performance
  • Track progress over time
  • Monitor grades and assignments
  • View attendance records
  • Identify students needing support
  • Generate progress reports
  • Compare student performance

Viewing Student Progress

Accessing Progress Dashboard

  1. Log in to the teacher dashboard
  2. Click on "Student Progress" in the navigation menu
  3. Select a class to view student progress

Class Progress Overview

View overall class performance:

  • Average Grade: Mean grade across all assignments
  • Completion Rate: Percentage of assignments completed
  • Attendance Rate: Overall class attendance percentage
  • Top Performers: Students with highest grades
  • Students Needing Support: Those with low performance

Viewing Student Profile

  1. Click on a student's name from the class roster
  2. View their individual progress page

The student profile displays:

  • Overall Grade: Current average grade
  • Assignment Grades: Individual assignment scores
  • Attendance Record: Attendance percentage and history
  • Submission Rate: Percentage of assignments submitted
  • Progress Trend: Performance over time

View visual progress indicators:

  • Grade Trend: Line chart showing grade progression
  • Attendance Trend: Attendance pattern over time
  • Assignment Completion: Completion rate trends

  1. Navigate to "History" or "Timeline" tab
  2. View student progress throughout the term
  3. See improvements or declines

  3. View all assignments with grades:
    • Assignment name
    • Grade received
    • Submission status

  • Best Performances: Highest scoring assignments

  1. View attendance records alongside grades
  2. Identify correlation between attendance and performance

  • Low attendance rates
  • Missing assignments
  • Below-average performance

  • Grade Decline: Significant drop in grades
  • Attendance Issues: Frequent absences
  • Missing Work: Multiple unsubmitted assignments

  1. Open a student's progress page
  2. Click "Generate Report"
  3. Create a comprehensive progress report:
    • Overall performance summary
    • Grade breakdown
    • Attendance record
    • Assignment completion
    • Recommendations

  3. Create report for entire class:
    • Class average performance

Troubleshooting

Issue: Progress data not updating

  • Solution: Ensure grades and attendance are properly saved. Data may take a moment to refresh.

Issue: Cannot view student progress

  • Solution: Verify the student is enrolled in your class. Contact administrator if enrollment issues.

Issue: Incorrect grade calculations

  • Solution: Verify all assignment grades are entered correctly. Check for missing grades.

Issue: Attendance data missing

  • Solution: Ensure attendance is being marked regularly. Historical data may be limited if attendance wasn't marked.
